FAQ's

Weather Chart was released with v2.3 and allows users to access weather data from across North America.  To get local historical, current and forecasted daily data, simply go to the CONDITIONS navigation item, tap-and-hold a location on the map. A red icon will appear and the weather chart will begin loading.  View the following video - https://youtu.be/mzssv-fNW8I

We created two levels to make it easier for recreational anglers to log catches, or for avid anglers to get more data with each fish photo taken.  If you want data rich photos that are automatically tagged with marine/water gauge data, weather and moon phase data, select Avid Angler mode from the homescreen.  If you don't care about data and just want to log simplistic catches, select Recreational Angler mode.  Avid Angler mode will require that you select a water gauge or marine buoy close to your fishing spot upon starting your trip.  Just following the instructions.

No, you can start to navigate all the powerful features by selecting any of the menu items found at the bottom of the screen.  You can pick from MAPS/DATA, CONDITIONS, GALLERY, or you can start logging directly by taking a picture of your catch using the red Take Photo button.

You will be able to access real-time marine conditions, water gauge data and weather data, as well as logging catch from across North America.

FISHBUOY Pro requires that you have purchased a valid NAVIONICS Boating App subscription.  You can access NAVIONICS via FISHBUOY Pro's interface by going to Preferences (top left corner), select NAVIONICS account, then add your login credentials.  These are the same credentials as you used to get into your NAVIONICS Boating app.  There is tremendous value in this integration. When you log catches, you can see both your FISHLOG + bathymetry.  This allows you to start developing trends and patterns related to fish catches, structure and lake contours.

As a rule of thumb, the United States Geologic Survey offers provisional data for water discharge, water levels, water turbidity and water temperature.  However, not all monitoring stations are equiped with temperature or turbidity probs.  In addition, Canada in general does not measure water temperature or turbidity.  However, there are some hints to better understanding water clarity.  HINT: For example, take a photo of your foot in water at approximately 1ft of depth.  Then 2ft of depth, then 3ft of depth.  As you take photos, FISHBUOY Pro is recording water level and water discharge + a visual reference of the water clarity.  You can now refer to the water level and discharge as a personal gauge of water clarity when looking at your photo gallery.  While this approach is highly variable and many factors are not considered, it is a good way to correlated water level/discharge with water clarity in the absence of water turbidity monitoring.

No, FISHBUOY Pro is a private fishing app.  Unlike many other fishing apps that post your fishing spots publicly, FISHBUOY Pro give you complete control of your fishing spots.

Absolutely yes! We know that you likely have a close group of fishing buddies and want to share your catches to them only.  That's why we developed Private Groups.  Private groups helps you manage fish catches in a single place, while allowing group members to add catch data.  Groups owners have full control over many group-related features, including if other members are allowed to add new members to the group.
